Unconventional Majorana fermions on the surface of topological superconductors protected by rotational symmetry

چکیده
Topological superconductors are exotic gapped phases of matter hosting Majorana mid-gap states on their boundaries. In conventional three-dimensional topological superconductors, in-gap appear in the form spin-1/2 fermions with a quasirelativistic dispersion relation. Here, we show that unconventional can emerge surface protected by rotational symmetry. The classified into three different categories: spin-$s$ fermion $(2s+1)$-fold degeneracy $(s\ensuremath{\ge}3/2)$, Fermi line carrying two distinct charges, and quartet related fourfold spectral properties first types, which go beyond fermions, unique to have no counterparts insulators. We be obtained superconducting phase doped ${Z}_{2}$ insulators or Dirac semimetals

Proposal for the detection of Majorana Fermions in Topological Superconductors
One of the goals of modern spectroscopy is to invent techniques which detect neutral excitations that have been theoretically proposed. For superconductors, two point transport measurements detect the Andreev crossed reflection which confirms the existence of the Majorana fermions. Similar information can be obtained from a measurement using two piezoelectric transducers. One transducer measure...
متن کاملMajorana fermions in topological superconductors with spin-orbit interaction
When a topological order is realized in a certain class of superconductors, it supports Majorana fermions on the edge or in the vortex core. Vortices with Majorana fermion modes are neither fermions nor bosons but non-Abelian anyons, obeying the non-Abelian statistics for which the exchange operations of particles are not commutative. Because of this remarkable feature, Majorana fermions plays ...
متن کاملTopological Superfluids: Majorana Fermions
The subject of topological superfluids, though they were not originally called by that name, actually antedates that of topological insulators, and has played a major role in the attempt to implement topological quantum computation (see lectures 26 and 28). Crudely speaking, the analogy with TI’s goes as follows: in a crystalline solid with spin-orbit coupling, the single-particle energy eigens...
متن کاملMajorana fermions and exotic surface Andreev bound states in topological superconductors: application to Cu(x)Bi2Se3.
The recently discovered superconductor Cu(x)Bi2Se3 is a candidate for three-dimensional time-reversal-invariant topological superconductors, which are predicted to have robust surface Andreev bound states hosting massless Majorana fermions. In this work, we analytically and numerically find the linearly dispersing Majorana fermions at k=0, which smoothly evolve into a new branch of gapless surf...
